Elia Nurvista 有幾件關於食物的作品。她對食物的興趣是,作為烹煮及品嚐的結果所引起的議題。這些議題有時和政治和歷史相關,有時只是關於我們所愛的人的記憶。在其駐村計畫中,台灣飲食史是其感興趣的主題,是以希望追溯源頭。她將台灣視為獨立性文化實體,但總與中國歷史有所關連。她關注近代歷史中的飲食文化,毛澤東推動文革時,拒斥傳統宴席,而那些保有傳統飲食文化的富有文人逃難至台灣,是以台灣保留了部分中國飲食傳統。
Elia has several works about food. Her interest in food is about the issues that arise as a result of cooking and eating. Sometimes the issues are about politics and histories, and sometimes just about memories of someone we love.
In this residency program ,she is interested in culinary history in Taiwan and wants to trace back about it, considers Taiwan as an independently cultural entity, but always related with the history of Mainland China. Her interest is departed from the time, when the Chinese Revolution happened by Chairman Mao and rejected the “dinner party”. The educated, wealthy gentlemen who sponsored elite gastronomy fled to Taiwan.
